Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Last updated: 26 May 2026

1. Who we are

SQEwise is an online SQE1 exam preparation platform operated at sqewise.co.uk. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@sqewise.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
  • Usage data: questions answered, answers given, accuracy per topic, streaks, mock exam results, and study planner activity. This data is necessary to provide the core service.
  • Payment data: if you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. SQEwise does not store card numbers — Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and session data collected automatically when you use the service.

3. Why we collect it

We collect personal data to: create and manage your account; deliver the practice question, mock exam, and progress tracking service; process subscription payments; send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, subscription receipts); improve the platform; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal basis

Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the following bases: contractual necessity (to deliver the service you signed up for); legitimate interests (platform improvement, fraud prevention); legal obligation (financial records, compliance); and consent (where explicitly given, e.g. marketing emails).

5. How long we keep your data

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. financial records are kept for 6 years). Anonymised usage data may be retained indefinitely for platform improvement.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Brevo (transactional email delivery)
  • Anthropic (AI queries sent to the Doubt Solver are processed by Anthropic's API — queries are not stored by SQEwise beyond the session)
  • Cloudflare (CDN and DDoS protection — your IP may be processed)
  • BigRock / Endurance International Group (hosting provider — servers located in the US)

7. International transfers

Our hosting is on US-based servers (BigRock). Data transferred to the US is protected by standard contractual clauses or equivalent adequacy mechanisms under UK GDPR.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any right, email hello@sqewise.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies

We use cookies for session management (login), preferences, and analytics. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, encrypted passwords, and access controls. No system is completely secure — if you become aware of a security issue, please contact us immediately.

11. Children

SQEwise is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by a notice on the platform. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

13. Contact

For privacy queries: hello@sqewise.co.uk. For complaints: you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
